My Journey with Native Art

My journey started before I went to school, well, it was like being on an adventure at that age, where I grew up, that was in western Queensland, Australia, in what is known here as the bush or outback.

At that time there were signs of Aboriginal life everywhere, you could pick up used and discarded artefacts almost everywhere.

Sadly some of the reasons for this were the discrimination and removal of the native people from their land.

So native art and culture to me was part of the landscape and it was impossible to stop me going bush at a young age and it is still impossible.

I knew then in my heart that I wanted to help somehow, and I now have the opportunity to do so through this site, which is dedicated to promote and support native, aboriginal and indigenous art throughout the world.

Maybe a big project you say, from little things, big things grow.

Never stopped Dreaming

Unfortunately society has a way of preventing you from doing that full time, so my contact with native art was stifled. But the love continued.

I have studied and tried my hand at drawing, sketching and stained glass but I can’t seem to match the feel that the original people produce.

Besides Australia I have been fortunate enough to visit other countries: but not nearly enough.

This site enables me to continue my dreams of visiting and exploring native art here and all over the world, so I am asking you to join my journey, which is going to continue until ?????

Finally: I can do the work I love

The hardest thing in your working life is to find and do the things you love, and get paid to do it, but after many years I am now fortunate enough to do it with this site.

My only regret is I did not find it sooner, anyway, better late than never, so happily, I am now in the position I envied all my life.

Whether you are an artist, crafts person, hobbyist or just a lover of the arts like me, everyone has knowledge, you can join my tour and, do the things you love (without that boss hanging around, you can boss yourself around, it’s fun and rewarding).

Even you don’t want to physically travel to view native art, you can stay home and let your art ideas and expertise do the journey, so that others can enjoy.

There are no quick ways to riches, unless you're born into it or win the lottery. There is a lot of work to do, but the effort is yours, that's why I enjoy it.

Be careful with what you wish or pray for, it might just happen. It did for me.
